A Shady Town Garden
Linton, Cambridgeshire 2022
£20,000 – £30,000
Design & Build Project
Our client is a keen gardener who wanted to be surrounded by nature in relatively small town garden, while also wanting a space to sit and store utilities. The garden was mostly in shade, so we created lush green shade tolerant planting with pops of colour. A series of circular steel steps were added to take you on a journey through the planting down onto the main patio. A dry stone wall seat was then built around the patio with a raised steel water bowl behind to create a mindful sanctuary.
At the centre of the pond sits a beautifully weathered millstone, thoughtfully repurposed as a water feature. Its gentle movement and soft sound bring life and atmosphere to the space, while the pond itself now supports fish and aquatic planting, adding depth, biodiversity and year‑round interest.
The surrounding planting has been carefully selected to enhance the traditional feel of the garden, offering colour, texture and seasonal variation without overwhelming the space. A collection of old stone pots complete the composition, their patina and form echoing the timeless feeling of the wider design.
This project is a testament to how careful craftsmanship and thoughtful design can create a garden full of character and tranquility. We are so happy with this project and enjoy watching it develop as our team maintain it.
From the client
“Jacq and Wills Landscapes created a beautiful garden out of, what seemed to us, a very unpromising canvas. They listened to our ideas and wishes and then produced a design, not only incorporating them, but also including many inspired extra touches. We love our garden which has been admired by delivery drivers and friends alike!”
