Membership Information
BAOS strives to advocate for the specialty of Oral Surgery and the Association’s members. See the BAOS mission statement here.
Your membership fee keeps BAOS operational. If you would like to see the operational costs in more detail you can access our accounts here.

Annual Membership Fees
- Full and Associate Members – £195 Direct Debit (£225 Non-Direct Debit)
- Trainee and Retired Members – £100 Direct Debit (£120 Non-Direct Debit)
- Dental Nurse – £15 (First year is free)
- Undergraduates – Free
Pro-Rata Membership Fees
Available if you become a member between 1 July – 31 December. Conditions apply, please contact the BAOS office for more details at mail@baos.org.uk.
- Full and Associate Members – £112.50 Direct Debit (£127.50 Non-Direct Debit)
- Retired and Trainee Members – £65 Direct Debit (£75 Non-Direct Debit)
Making Payment
All new members with a UK bank account will be required to pay by Direct Debit.

Once the application form has been submitted, the Direct Debit mandate should be completed, signed and emailed to mail@baos.org.uk. An e-signature is acceptable (typing your name in the signature field). Alternatively print out the form, sign and scan it before emailing.
Direct Debits will be collected on the 1st of January each year. You will receive an annual reminder.
Non-UK members can pay by BACS or PayPal. There is an additional administration fee for this. Please contact the BAOS admin team to arrange this at mail@baos.org.uk.
Membership Categories
Full and Associate Members
Full Members must work within the British Isles and be registered with the GDC. You must be on the GDC Oral Surgery Specialist list. If you are not on the Oral Surgery specialist list then you must have 4 years or more working experience in an Oral Surgery setting.
Associate Members have an interest in Oral Surgery but are not on the Oral Surgery Specialist list or do not have 4 years or more working experience in an Oral Surgery setting or work outside of the British Isles. Once you have been a Member of BAOS for four years, you will automatically become a Full Member. We will advise you at that time.
Trainee Members
Trainee Membership is for anyone in a Specialist Training Post, a Dental Core Trainee or Foundation Trainee role.
Undergraduate Members
Undergraduate Membership is available for Undergraduate Students
Dental Nurse Members
Dental Nurse Membership is for nurses working in a Dental Setting.
Honorary Membership
An Honorary member of BAOS will be entitled to free membership and have all the privileges of the Society. They should be an existing BAOS member and someone who has dedicated their career to the furtherment of Oral Surgery and/or demonstrated significant support to BAOS.
One Honorary Membership will be awarded each year and nominations must be submitted to the BAOS admin team by the 1st September.

Approval Process
Please allow 8 weeks for Membership applications to be approved.
If you wish to qualify for the BAOS Member discount on conference tickets or submit an abstract entry for the Poster and Open Paper competition you must have already had your membership application awarded at the time of submission.
Cancellation
BAOS membership runs from January to December, If you decide to cancel your membership for the current year, unfortunately BAOS will not be able to offer a refund (partial or otherwise), unless there are exceptional circumstances.
Account Updates
Once you are a member and can log into our website, you can update all of your details online via the Account screen. If you change your email address or your membership status changes (e.g. on retirement or completion of training) please email the Admin team on mail@baos.org.uk.
